What a fun afternoon we had at McKinley as we traveled through our building and learned about 5 different countries and how holidays are celebrated! Our students heard presentations from Mrs. Griffis about Romania, Mrs. Horan about Sweden, Mrs. Reynolds about Japan, Ms A about Mexico, and Mrs. Meneley and the German club from AHS about Germany!!
Santa visited McKinley ABC today!! He read "The Night Before Christmas," answered many questions and listened to each student’s wish list.
Our McKinley students enjoyed picking out a special gift for a loved one today!! Thank you all who helped with donating items for our Christmas Market led by our 3rd grade McKouncil members!
The 3rd grade McKinley McKouncil has voted!! We have our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners of our holiday door decorating contest! 1st place goes to Ms. A's Nutcracker/Joy to the World door, 2nd place is Ms. Bachand with the "Wet Bandits," and 3rd place to Mrs. Koch with the Christmas Sigma 6-7 door!!
Mary Hildebrand and Denise Liby, Ike Educators, came to McKinley ABC and showed students how to make an old fashioned Christmas ornament this week!

Funfilled end of the week at McKinley! Some 2nd and 3rd graders ate with police officers this week for being "McKinley ticket winners" from our ticket drawings, ABC fun with Jamie Ely from the Abilene Public Library with Christmas books, crafts, and games, and "Tour of the Schools" by our AHS vocal and band students! Thankful for all the ways so many in our community support our students!
Our 3rd grade McKinley McKouncil members are looking for donations for our Christmas Market! Drop any items off at McKinley from now until next Friday! We had our last 2nd quarter McKouncil meeting yesterday to finalize plans for our Christmas Market and we greatly appreciate the generosity of our local McDonals in providing us with Happy Meals!!
McKinley's Core Value focus for the month of November was INTEGRITY. Congratulations to 2nd grader P. Ferris, 3rd grader R. Gomez, and 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Riekeman on winning our INTEGRITY award!!

Veteran Alex Hunter came to McKinley ABC and shared some of his experiences while in the military. He let the kids try on a lot of his military gear. Happy Veterans Day!
Today Mr. Meneley celebrated our RISE students at McKinley! Our students who turned in any of their RISE forms (Read Instead of Screens and Engage) to Mrs. Stuber, got to attend the surprise assembly of Mr. Meneley shaving his head! We had over 110 students who are at home reading more with their families and turning off screens in the evenings! Keep it up 2nd and 3rd graders! We are proud of you! Big thanks to Mrs. Stuber for leading this initiative at our school!
