We celebrated our paras and aides at McKinley today for National Para Appreciation Day!! These staff members are AMAZING, work hard, and care for our students each day!



Every week we have a McKinley ticket drawing for a student to get to help Mr. Kent raise the flag on Friday. Today, 2nd grader Everette Seematter was chosen. His father, GySgt Christopher Seematter, came and saluted our flag as it was being raised! Very special moment to see a dad who is serving our country salute our flag as his son was raising it! ❤️


Our Abilene Public librarians came and gave high 5's and a little bag of goodies to our McKinley students this morning!! Thank you for starting our Friday off with smiles!!





This morning we learned more about our Boy's Town Skill of the Week, "Asking Permission," from Mr. Liby at McKinley. Thank you for sharing, Mr. Liby!


We are hiring for a full-time sub at McKinley for next school year!


Mr. Brown wanted to make sure our students could try "moose moss" today at lunch after he read to our students last week about it in our Dr. Seuss book!! 🤣😂😳😁 No one thought it was too delicious!!



We ended our week with Mr. Brown coming to read this morning!!! Thank you, Mr. Brown, for sharing about Thidwick the big, hearted moose!! We have loved having our community members sharing their love of reading with our students this week!




The Cat in the Hat visited McKinley this morning!! A big thanks to Mr. Schwartz for sharing one of his favorite Dr. Seuss books and making the story so engaging! We have greatly appreciated all of our readers this week!!!

McKinley students were greeted by the smiling faces of Abilene Mutual Aid Agency!!! Thank you ladies for the new pencils and friendly smiles this morning!!!





We got spoiled at McKinley today by our Friday High 5 greeters! Thank you Russell Stover's for gifting each student and staff with a box of chocolates! You know how to make our Friday extra sweet!!

Deputy Depew shared with McKinley students this morning at arrival time about our Boy's Town Skill of the Week: Disagreeing Appropriately. Thank you for teaching us the importance of being respectful when we disagree!



Today we celebrated being 100 days smarter and we enjoyed Miss Olivia as our "Principal for the Day!" Our students loved having lots of parents and grandparents walk through our classrooms to see the amazing displays created!
