We celebrated Mr. Meneley this week since it was National School Counselor Week and also Kindness week at McKinley! Our students were caught doing many acts of kindness and we celebrated with an assembly. Today our students enjoyed spending time with a buddy classroom making Valentine cards for residents at local nursing homes!









Deputy Brandon Depew visited McKinley ABC this past Thursday. He read a book, did a missing person activity, and showed students how his drone works. He then used it to find a hidden stuffed toy on the playground!




Our USD 435 Core Value focus at McKinley for January has been ACCOUNTABILITY! These two students were nominated by their teacher for accountability with their reading logs and chosen as our student winners. Our staff winner is Mrs. Cashman, who shows accountability in helping all students when she sees a need! Congrats to R. Emberlin and P. Dozler.

DK County CEO students gave of their time this morning to greet our McKinley students! Thank you for the joy you brought to our Friday!

Next week is Kindness week in our PK-5 buildings!! Our students will be participating in different activities to promote kindness and caring for each other.

We had a new face for our principal today at McKinley! Principal Nieves did a great job as our Principal for the Day!! This special honor is chosen each quarter to one student at McKinley based on our McKinley ticket drawings!

Amanda Lindahl, K-State Research and Extension visited McKinley ABC Thursday and read the book "No Ordinary Apple," about mindful eating. Students got to sample several different kinds of apples using mindful eating techniques they learned from the book!

Special ABC activities and eating with Police Officers for tickets winners at 3rd grade this week were fun for all! Bette Engelhaupt, DK County Arts Council visited McKinley ABC Thursday and had students do a very professional looking butterfly craft project.







McKinley's 100th day celebration!

At McKinley ABC this last week, Ike Educators, Denise Liby and Mary Hildebrand, had students do a color by number sunflower picture to go with Kansas’s birthday this month! They also talked about Ike’s staff doing color by number pictures that now travel around the work be viewed.
