Mark your calendars for our Back to School Carnival for PK-5th graders!!

We are thankful for these AHS football players who endured the heat yesterday for many hours to help spread out the wood chips on the McKinley playground!! Their servant hearts were appreciated!

We love these smiles!!! What a great night at the McKinley Back to School event! Only three more sleeps until school starts!!

Our PK-5 teachers have been devoted the past two days to days to our own learning time!! We have a great team of teachers who are passionate and ready to teach!

We are anxious to see our students and families tomorrow night at Kennedy, McKinley, and Eisenhower!

Mark your calendars!

The McKinley Outdoor Classroom is coming together! Our Hammock Garden was created with funds from our McKouncil Coin Wars this past spring and it is now finished! The Dickinson County Community Foundation awarded McKinley a grant for the construction of this space! The benches and tables, made from recycled tires, were purchased with help from a KS Waste Tire Management grant as well as the DK County Community Foundation grant. We are excited to begin using this space this school year and are very appreciative of our two grants we received! #KeepItCleanKansas

25-26 School Supply Lists!

"Happy Retirement" to Mrs. Liby!! 38 years as an elementary teacher with 36 of those years in Abilene!!! What a difference you have made for so many kids!

Enjoy some pics from McKinley's end of year "special days" of field trips, field days, and classroom special events. We had a great year and thank you for sharing your kids with us!! Have a great summer!!

McKinley ABC partnered with the Abilene Kiwanis Club this year and participated in the "Terrific Kids" program! Our ABC students set academic or behavior goals this year, monitored their progress, and celebrated on Monday with the Kiwanis Club members!

What a fun morning celebrating National "Ride Your Bike to School Day" we had yesterday! Thank you to our Abilene rec center for planning this event!

During the month of April at McKinley, we have been focusing on one of the five Abilene Core Values: PERSEVERANCE! Our students nominated other students and staff when they saw others showing perseverance and today the following 2 students and 1 staff member's name was drawn from the nominations. Congrats to 2nd grader Koy Vanover for persevering with telling time, 3rd grader Ellie Gilliam-McAhren for preserving on state assessments, and Mrs. Kauer for showing perseverance as a 3rd grade teacher! You all did a "Sweet" job!

McKinley was led by the "Principal for the Day," Ms. Needham, today! She directed, inspired, and helped reinforce expectations in our classrooms today! Good job Ms. Needham!

Big thanks to the DK County Sheriff's Department for welcoming our students to McKinley this morning!! Beautiful morning and lots of smiles!!

McKinley enjoy the "Ag in the Classroom" lesson taught by many of our AHS Ag students about the different layers of soil today. Getting to eat "dirt and worms" was pretty fun too!!! Thank you, Mr. Fry and Mr. Hayes, for bringing your students!

Family Lunch Friday is coming up again at McKinley this week! Call to RSVP!

Family Lunch Fridays start again at McKinley this Friday!! Please call our office by 2:30pm tomorrow to RSVP!

We celebrated our paras and aides at McKinley today for National Para Appreciation Day!! These staff members are AMAZING, work hard, and care for our students each day!

Every week we have a McKinley ticket drawing for a student to get to help Mr. Kent raise the flag on Friday. Today, 2nd grader Everette Seematter was chosen. His father, GySgt Christopher Seematter, came and saluted our flag as it was being raised! Very special moment to see a dad who is serving our country salute our flag as his son was raising it! ❤️
