Congratulations to McKinley's Mrs. Kauer! She graduated today with her Master's in Arts and Teaching from ESU!

Our 2nd and 3rd graders had a great time at Field Day!

Thank you to the Abilene Rec Center for planning the Walk and Roll to school event today!! Our McKinley students loved it!

What a fun morning we had at McKinley with our annual career event! We are thankful for these community volunteers who spent time with our students today introducing them to their careers and opening their eyes to options of jobs they may enjoy someday! Thank you to Ross Taplin (Holm Auto), Jackie Walsh (horse trainer), Jacob Hird (lineman), Gene Twiggs (archaeologist), Officer Brandon Depew (drone operator), Dr. Martin (veterinarian), and the Abilene Fire Department.

Our April core value focus at McKinley has been COOPERATION! From those nominated, our 2nd grade winner is H. Trexler, 3rd grade winner is K. Rogers, and staff winner is Miss Trinnity. Way to be great models on how to work well with others!

Enjoy some pics of our JOYful spirit week at McKinley this last week!

Happy Administrative Asst. Day to our two office staff at McKinley!! Mrs. Ukens and Mrs. Palenske, we appreciate all you do!!

The AHS FFA officers came to McKinley today for "Ag in the classroom!" We learned how corn grows and of course had a fun snack to demonstrate each step in the process of planting and growing corn!

Don't forget about this fun event happening this week on WEDNESDAY!!!

Mrs. Cook's 2nd grade class is blessed every year with another Mrs. Cook who devotes a lot of time each week to volunteering in this classroom! We are so appreciative of her dedication as a retired teacher and love for all students! Thank you Linda Cook!

G. Bohannan, McKinley third grader, came to McKinley ABC and talked about 4-H and his swine project. Students were excited to see and pet his pig!

McKinley Families! Family Lunch Friday begins again this Friday! Please call our office by 2:30pm each Thursday if you would like to eat on our lawn on Fridays with your child!

Sidewalk chalk is ready by the front door of McKinley! Stop by anytime tomorrow and leave an encouraging message on the front sidewalk for our 3rd graders as they begin state assessments this week!

At McKinley we are celebrating National Schwa Day by wearing Pajamas on Tuesday, April 7th! 2nd graders learn a lot about the Schwa sound at this grade level, as well as our 3rd graders. The Schwa sounds are vowel sounds that make the short /i/ or /u/ sound unexpectedly in words that are spelled with other vowels, like in the word "reason." The syllable "son" says /uh/ instead of the short vowel sound for "o." Schwa sounds are known to be "relaxed" so why not relax with wearing PAJAMAS on Tuesday!!

We are thankful and appreciative everyday of our aides, paras, and full-time sub at McKinley, but excited to get to celebrate their hard work and dedication on "National Para Appreciation Day" today! Each one of these individuals plays a role in the success of our students at McKinley!
