Parents of AMS,
This is communication about our fire alarms going off this morning. Due to an accident with one of the smoke detectors, our alarms were activated. Students and staff followed fire safety protocols and exited the building until it was confirmed there was no fire or smoke present. This was not a drill, but students and staff were also never in any real danger. Those present in the building did an excellent job of following our emergency drill procedures.

The AMS Parent Planning Committee (PPC) is hosting a meeting on Monday, September 28 at 6:00pm in the AMS Library.
This is a group that runs concession stands throughout the year to raise funds for Night of the Stars in May, faculty dinners during Parent/Teacher Conferences, and Teacher Appreciation Week. PPC needs YOU to join in the fun!

Staff Member of the Month is voted on by students, and students are given the option of sharing why they believe their chosen staff member deserves recognition. Along with being kind, funny, and helpful, these are some things students had to say about Mr. Weishaar:

Hello AMS Families,
We have some adjustments to pick-up and drop-off to let you know about before next week. The City of Abilene is working to repave roads near the AHS/AMS Complex, and starting Monday AFTER morning drop-off, the construction will impact Walnut Street, which runs west of the football stadium and prevents buses and cars from using the 3-way stop at the back of the school parking lots.
Because our buses will not be able to follow typical routes at the back of the middle school, we will utilize the lower parking lot east of AMS for bus drop-off and pick-up. As a result, we ask that no one drives or parks within that lower lot Monday, September 14 - Friday, September 18.
The front drive will still be available for vehicle drop-off and pick-up all week, but please be aware that buses will be entering and exiting that lower lot, and traffic congestion may occur. Fortunately, this construction will only last the week and things will go back to normal after the 18th.
